Kids Clothes Week - Project Three - The Flower Dress

A few weeks ago Little Monkey spotted fabric with bright flowers printed on it and said she wanted a 'flower dress'. Oh sweetie, how can I say no when you look at me with those big blue eyes and believe that mummy can make something special for you!

While she was sleeping, I made a new dress for my Little Monkey.

New Look 6576 was one of the first patterns I purchased when I started sewing two years ago. Every summer I turn to this pattern to make a dress for Little Monkey (you can see one in my first blog post). Last winter Little Monkey enjoyed wearing a tunic I made for her out of my grandma's corduroy.

I may have mentioned a few times that Little Monkey especially appreciates pockets and buttons on the clothes I make her. Ta-da! Cool wooden buttons. OK, I think they are totally cool, but I was not too sure Little Monkey would share in my excitement. She said they were nice. Phew!

My husband snapped a few photos while we were getting ready to go to the Bendigo Agricultural Show. Little Monkey did not reveal her true feelings about the new dress until I suggested it was time to take it off and put a pair of pants on as it was rather cool. A few weeks ago Little Monkey decided she hated tights with a passion, however she agreed to wear them so that she could go to the show in her new dress. What? Another mummy-made dress Little Monkey approved? Whoo-hoo!

I love this simple cute dress on my daughter. I hope she will get a lot of wear out of it this season.

    1. Thank you Teresa :) Little Monkey doesn't hate photo-shoots as much anymore, although sometimes we need to negotiate under what conditions she is willing to be a model for mummy :)

  11. That fabric looks identical to what Gymboree had last spring. Where did you find it?

    1. I bought this fabric from Lincraft last summer (Australian summer that is). What is Gymboree?

    2. Gymboree is a kids brand of clothing or the name of the shop that carries that brand. I learnt that from little miss aged 3
